What Are EuroMillions Superdraws?
From time to time, the EuroMillions announces a special EuroMillions Superdraw, which replaces the jackpot at the time and instead takes place with a minimum starting guaranteed jackpot of €100 million. The Superdraw is played in exactly the same manner as the regular EuroMillions lottery – players pick five main numbers and two Lucky Stars. If not won, the Superdraw jackpot rolls over and continues to climb as high as its cap of €200 million, similar to the regular EuroMillions. The jackpot, if still not won, remains at that amount for a maximum of four drawings. When is the next EuroMillions Superdraw? Stay tuned for upcoming announcements!
Tickets Bought in Person
For both the main EuroMillions draw, and the additional HotPicks game, you can claim any winnings by following the procedures outlined below.
|Amount Won||How to Claim|
|Up to £100||Take your ticket to any authorised retailer and have it scanned by a member of staff. Successful entries produce a ‘win sound’ and a receipt will be produced which will tell you the value of your prize.|
|£101 — £500||Some retailers can pay out amounts of up to £500 in cash at their discretion, but they are not obliged to do so. If a retailer cannot pay you can either return at an agreed time, go to another retailer or visit a designated National Lottery Post Office. However, if the retailer has already validated your ticket, you will have to return to the same establishment when they have the funds available.|
|£501 — £50,000||Visit a National Lottery Post Office or a regional payout centre and complete a claim form. Winnings will be paid by cheque, although Post Offices can issue up to £500 in cash out of any prize won.Any winnings of up to £50,000 can also be redeemed by post. Players must write their name and address on the back of their ticket and complete a claim form for prizes over £5,000. The postal address is: The National Lottery, Accounts Department, PO Box 287, Watford, WD18 9TT.|
|£50,001 and over||Contact the National Lottery directly by ringing 0333 234 50 50. Upon completing a claim form and presenting a valid form on identification, prizes can be received at an agreed location.|
For more information about affiliated Post Offices and Regional Centres, visit the main UK Lottery Claims page.
Methods of redeeming non-cash prizes, such as those awarded on Mega Week draws, will be detailed in the specific rules created for the individual draw.
Multiply Your Chances of Winning the Lottery with Second-Chance Games
Don’t Pass Up Another Chance to Win the Lottery.

OK, so your numbers didn’t come up in the drawing. That means it’s time to toss your lottery ticket, right?
Many lotteries offer second-chance drawings on non-winning tickets. Fill out the form on the back, send it in, and you’ll have a bonus chance to be a winner.
On June 8, 2010, a TheBalance Everyday reader reported a big lottery win. She didn’t win because of the numbers she played when she bought the ticket, but because she entered the second-chance game in the Kentucky Lottery.
Her name was randomly drawn as the second-chance winner, and she took home $120,610.70 after taxes.
EuroMillions on LottoSmile
LottoSmile offers players from around the world the opportunity to participate in different national versions of the EuroMillions lottery online: EuroMillions & El Millón and Austria EuroMillions.
At LottoSmile, players can acquire a EuroMillions Subscription to any of the three versions we offer. Subscriptions allow you to automatically enter every draw with your lucky numbers. You’ll never have to worry about missing another draw deadline again. If you’re not ready for the commitment of a subscription, you can also try out a Multi-Draw package which pre-orders your tickets for a set number of draws.
If you’re in it to win it, EuroMillions Syndicates are probably the most lucrative EuroMillions play options, especially if you want to boost your EuroMillions odds. What’s more: LottoSmile’s syndicates are exclusive to our site and cannot be played anywhere else — neither online or offline! By joining groups of other online lottery players you are able to joint-purchase a large number of tickets and give your chance of winning the lottery an enormous boost. Buy your EuroMillions tickets today!
Remember the Basics
It seems obvious, but you cannot win EuroMillions without buying a ticket. Once you have bought your tickets, you know that you have a chance of winning that jackpot. You really do have to be in it to win it.
Similarly, you can’t collect a prize if you do not check your ticket. Make sure you use the EuroMillions Ticket Checker soon after the draw takes place to see whether you have matched any numbers and if you are due a prize.
The advantage of playing EuroMillions online is that you are notified of any prizes you win on your tickets, and you can’t lose or damage them because your numbers are digitally connected to you in your player account.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST EURO MILLIONS NUMBERS
Treat EuroMillions as two separate lotteries. One is a pick-5 from 50 numbers; the other is
a pick-2 from 12 numbers. Advantage Gold
software tracks the histories of the Red Balls and the Lucky Star balls in two separate files,
which treats them like two separate drawings, each having its own set of charts to make it easy to strategize.
Wheel the Red Balls using the Balanced Wheels in the Wheel Five Gold
software or the book, Lotto Winning Wheels for
Powerball & MEGA Millions. After a few Euromillions drawings, include in your wheel all the virgin
numbers that are yet to be drawn until they have all had at least one win. To give you immediate
access to wheeling systems, you can use the FREE pick-5 multiple-jackpot winning Balanced Wheels
for the Red Balls.
How to Win
There are 13 ways to win in the main draw, with larger prizes awarded for successfully matching more numbers. The overall odds of receiving any prize are 1 in 13.
|5 numbers + 2 Lucky Stars||Jackpot€17 million to €200 million|
|5 numbers + 1 Lucky Star||£300,811.96|
|4 numbers + 2 Lucky Stars||£2,768.14|
|4 numbers + 1 Lucky Star||£130.20|
|3 numbers + 2 Lucky Stars||£53.35|
|2 numbers + 2 Lucky Stars||£13.24|
|3 numbers + 1 Lucky Star||£9.75|
|1 number + 2 Lucky Stars||£7.03|
|2 numbers + 1 Lucky Star||£5.32|
*For Match 5 + 2, the range of available prize amounts is shown. For all other prize tiers, the average amount is shown. Averages have been calculated using data from draws since 10/05/2011.
The chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 139,838,160. Visit the EuroMillions Odds page to see your chances of winning in each different prize tier.
Millionaire Maker & HotPicks
UK ticket holders also have an additional chance to win £1 million thanks to the Millionaire Maker. Millionaire Maker is a supplementary game which is automatically included when you enter EuroMillions. You receive one code for every combination of EuroMillions numbers you play and it is all included in the cost of a ticket, so you do not need to do anything extra. A winning Millionaire Maker code is drawn alongside each main EuroMillions draw and if the code on your ticket matches the winning code exactly, you win. Special draws also take place from time to time which guarantee multiple winners.
EuroMillions HotPicks is a separate game, so it can be played on its own. Unlike Millionaire Maker, you need to opt in to play the game, which costs £1.50 per entry. HotPicks uses the five main numbers from the EuroMillions draw, and players can decide how many of the numbers they want to try and match. For example, you can choose to try and match just one number to win £10 or you can attempt to match all five for £1 million. The cost of entry is the same regardless of how many numbers you try and match. See the EuroMillions HotPicks page to learn more.
Take Advantage of the Jackpot Cap
The EuroMillions jackpot is capped at €200 million, with excess funds that would have been added to the top prize diverted to next-highest prize tier with any winners. While this technically doesn’t make you a jackpot winner, you could still pick up a seven-figure sum for matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star, and the odds of winning in this prize tier are just 1 in 6,991,908, compared with 1 in 139,838,160 for the jackpot.
On Friday 8th July 2011, six winners in the Match 5+1 tier won £3.3 million (€4.5 million) after the jackpot hit its then cap of €185 million.
Once the jackpot reaches €200 million, it can roll over four times before it either must be won or is rolled down into the next winning prize tier. During these rollovers, any excess funds that would have been added to the jackpot are also rolled down, bringing you a better chance of winning a life-changing prize without having to match all of the numbers drawn. See the Jackpot Cap page for more about how it works.
Playing online has become increasingly popular as it offers a number of advantages over buying a ticket from a retailer. For example, once you purchase your entries online, they are then stored in your account and cannot be lost, stolen or damaged unlike paper tickets. Plus you will be notified if you win, so you don’t even need to check the results.
If you’d like to play online, visit the EuroMillions Online page to get started.
Another advantage of entering online is that National Lottery players can enter their lines on a continuous basis to ensure they never miss a draw. To set up a Direct Debit, follow these steps:
Fill out an online playslip
Select your numbers, how many lines you wish to play and whether you want to take part in the Tuesday draw, the Friday draw, or both.
Choose to play ‘continuously by Direct Debit’
Rather than selecting the option to enter for a set number of weeks.
Submit your bank sort code and account number
The Direct Debit will take about four weeks to begin and you will then be entered automatically into your chosen draws. You will get a different Millionaire Maker entry for each draw.
You can make changes to your personal details, the numbers you want to use or the draws you wish to enter at any time by going to your account.
Play a EuroMillions System
System entries are often best suited to syndicates, as they involve buying a large number of entries for a draw. You would play more a combination of more numbers than the required five main numbers and two Lucky Stars. For example, you might choose to play six main numbers and three Lucky Stars, which would give you more chances to win should your numbers come up.
You can play system entries in Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain, but in the UK and Ireland you will need to create your own by writing down all possible combinations of the numbers you choose and entering them on multiple lines to ensure that they are all covered.
My Bonus (Raffle)
A My Bonus code is automatically assigned for each Euromillions line played. To take part in the My Bonus draws, as well as the special Millionairs draw in which 25 winners* win € 1.000.000. The special EuroMillions Millionairs draws 4 times a year for 25 winners of € 1,000,000 each. Is there no winner? Then My Bonus draw a extra winner of € 1.000.000! My Bonus draws guarantee 600** extra winners of € 500 every week. There are also thousands of winners of € 10 several times a year.
* The number of winners per special Millionairs draw may vary and depends on what the participating EuroMillions countries decide together.** 200 winners on Tuesday and 400 winners on Friday.

The Huge Difference Between Odds and Probability
Odds and probability are two different terms with two different equations. The difference between the two can be best describe when we study the composition of combinations.
As a lotto player, you don’t have the power to change the underlying probability and you cannot beat the odds of the Euromillions game. But you have the power to know all the possible choices and make the right decision based on those choices.
And making the right choice is possible when you know the difference between odds and probability.
What is the difference?
Probability refers to the measurement that an event will likely occur. And we measure the likelihood by using the formula:
We normally expressed the results of this formula in percentage.
Now, to get the odds, we use this formula instead:
What you get from this formula is a ratio.
So the difference is that the probability is the measurement of chance while the odds are the ratio of success to failure.
In layman’s term, the difference between odds and probability can be described in the following way:
Probability = Chance
Odds = Advantage
That is, you cannot control the probability and you cannot beat the odds, but at least you can choose the best odds and get the best ratio of success to failure.
Let’s consider the combination 2-4-6-8-10. This combination is composed of 5 even numbers with no odd numbers. This combination belongs to the 0-odd-5-even group.
In the Euromillions game, there are 53,130 ways you can combine 5 numbers that are all even numbers and no odd numbers.
Therefore we calculate the odds of a 0-odd-5-even in the following way:
Odds of 5-even-0-odd = 53,130 / 2,065,630
This means that 2-4-6-8-10 and all similar combinations under the group of 0-odd-5-even will give you 2 or 3 opportunities to match the winning combinations for every 100 attempts that you play the Euromillions game.
As you can see, a combination such as 2-4-6-8-10 offers a very low ratio of success.
In comparison, you will have a better ratio of success when you pick a more balanced odd and even numbers.
Let’s prove that.
There are 690,000 ways you can combine numbers of type 3-odd-2-even. If we calculate the odds, we get:
Odds of 3-odd-2-even = 690,000 / 1,428,760
In simple terms, a 3-odd-2-even combination will give you the opportunity to match the winning numbers 32 to 33 times in every 100 attempts that you play the Euromillions game.
If we compare the two classes of combinations, we can see a big difference:
0-odd-5-even VS 3-odd-2-even
|2 to 3 opportunities to match the winning numbers in every 100 draws||32 to 33 opportunities to match the winning numbers in every 100 draws|
|The worst ratio of success||The best ratio of success|
|The worst choice||An intelligent choice|
In a random event like the Euromillions game, making an intelligent choice requires mathematical strategy. We calculate all the possible choices and finally make an intelligent choice.
Remember this: As a EuroMillions player, your objective is to get a better ratio of success to failure. Know all the possible choices and make an intelligent choice.
I explained the details of this mathematical strategy in my article The Lottery and the Winning Formula of Combinatorial Math and Probability Theory.
But to give you a gist of how to make an intelligent choice, let’s dig deeper through these combinatorial patterns below.
How to WIN the EuroMillions Lotto Game
PLAY A MIX OF ODD AND EVEN LOTTO NUMBERS
Choose the best Euro Millions Lotto numbers with a fairly even mix of odd and
even numbers. All odd numbers or all even numbers are drawn less than 3% of the time.
The best mix is to have 3/2 or 2/3 which means three odd and two even, or two odd and three even. One of these two patterns will occur in
68 percent of Euro Millions lotto drawings.
PLAY A MIX OF HIGH AND LOW LOTTO NUMBERS
Winning numbers are usually spread across the entire number field.
Cut a number field in half to get the low half and the high half. In a
50-number game like EuroMillions, numbers 1 to 25 would be in the low half, and numbers 26 to 50
would be in the high half. All high numbers or all low numbers are rarely drawn, occurring
only 3 percent of the time. A mix of 3 high/2 low or 2 high/3 low occurs 68% of the time, so this is a good bet.
OMIT ONE LOTTERY NUMBER GROUP
Look at a list of past winning lottery numbers in the Euromillions results, and you’ll see,
that usually one or more of the number groups is not included. For
example, in the combination 5-8-14-17-32, there are no 20’s. Tracking and studying
Number Groups can help you decide which group to omit and which group to give extra
PLAY NUMBERS WITH A RECENTLY RARE GAMES OUT VALUE
List the number of games skipped (games out) since the last hit (win) for each of
the winning numbers during the last five games. Then mark the number of times each
skip occurred. If any skip from 0 to 5 did not occur, play the Lotto numbers that
are out that many games. (Help working with lotto games skipped.)
LOTTO NUMBER SUM ADVICE — PLAY A BALANCED GAME
After you choose five numbers you want to play, add them together and make sure
that the sum of the five numbers adds up to somewhere between 95 and 160. Sums that
fall within that range will account for over 70 percent of all the 5-number sets of
winning EuroMillions Red Balls.
CONSIDER INCLUDING ONE NUMBER FROM THE LAST DRAWING
In EuroMillions results, on average, one lottery number will be a repeat hit from the last drawing every
other drawing or 43 percent of the time.
PLAY HOT NUMBERS THAT HAVE A LOW GAMES OUT VALUE
Numbers that have been out (losers) for six games or less account for about half of
the winning numbers. Losing numbers
that have been out for 12 games or less account for about three-quarters of all the winning numbers. This tells us that hot
numbers are more likely to hit, but don’t forget to include at least one long shot in
your group of 5.
DON’T USUALLY INCLUDE A LONGSHOT NUMBER
It is difficult to know when a cold number will end a long losing streak. If you play a
number every drawing because you think it is due, you could be chasing it
for many months. (Number 45 in New York Lotto sat out 100 drawings before it
finally hit.) Although, when a number has been out for 70 games or so, it might be

Knowing the Best and the Worst Combination Should Help
Getting the right composition will surely give you the best shot possible at winning the EuroMillions. Of course, you don’t win any money by matching the pattern. But as a lotto player, you want to play with a sensible strategy and get closer to the winning numbers.
Lotterycodex has no power to change the underlying probability. But Lotterycodex can calculate all the possible choices so you can make the right choice.
The lottery should be fun. But at least be sensible when choosing your combinations and don’t waste your money on worthless combinations.
You don’t increase your chance of winning by choosing the right composition. But when you play the Euromillions, you want to play with the best ratio of success to failure. So don’t waste your money on useless combinations. Lotterycodex patterns are here to guide you on that aspect. (Check out the Lotterycodex Calculators)
I encourage you to check the free guide to learn more about how we calculate everything. Lotterycodex is the only lottery calculator that combines combinatorics and probability calculation in one system.
If you are playing blindly, there’s no guarantee you are not falling into one of these worst patterns in EuroMillions. So I propose that you should incorporate the use of probability theory in your playing strategy.
The benefits are apparent. First, you are confident that you are not wasting your money, and second, you get the best shot at winning the game.
The difference between the best and the worst is so huge. You don’t want to take it for granted.
We don’t say that those combinations under the worst group will not occur. We say that those combinations have the worst ratio of success to failure.
How to Get Lucky in Lotto
CASH IN ON THE LUCK OF OTHERS
When you form a Lotto pool, your group is also pooling its aggregate luck. A
jackpot could happen because of the luck just one member brings to your pool.
Select your partners carefully. Share your luck with winners, not losers. Avoid
negative people. Not only are they unlucky, but they dampen enthusiasm and drain
energy from others. You want to enhance your own luck, not dilute its strength. One
quick way to tell winners from losers is simply to ask them: «Do you think you
are a lucky person?» Many people quickly admit, «I’m unlucky. I never win
anything.» They won’t bring good luck to your group either.
CASH IN ON A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
No one should play games of chance out of desperation because they need the
winnings. The needy have a greater fear of losing the hard-earned money they gamble
with. It is just one of life’s dirty tricks that the very fear of losing blocks the
winning forces. Thoughts are charged with energy, especially when triggered by
emotion. Fear attracts exactly that which one fears. A strong desire for a goal
that is charged with positive energy, attracts a positive response, especially when
every effort is made to attain that goal.
Don’t Miss a Lottery Win!
Double-Check Your Lottery Tickets So You Don’t Miss a Win.
Saturated / Getty Images
Imagine winning a big jackpot—but missing out on your money because you forgot to double-check your numbers. It happens more often than you think.
For example, one MegaMillions lottery ticket worth nearly $300,000 was never claimed. Somewhere out there, there’s someone with no idea that they won, and lost, a huge prize. Don’t let that happen to you.
When you buy a lottery ticket, keep it somewhere where you can find it again easily. Jot down the drawing date and time in your calendar if you’re afraid you might forget it.
Check the numbers against your ticket, and double-check them, just to be sure. Also, make sure that you are looking at the numbers for the correct date.
